Pre Purchase Survey

Before you splash the cash

Keesurvey.com is committed to getting the job done, especially when it comes to the pre-purchase survey. You can count on us to be professional, timely, efficient, and, make sure you’re satisfied every step of the way.  You will have access to an online library as the survey commences for real-time questions and comments. This is an asset not only for longevity but for absent buyers.

The pre-purchase survey is an area that keesurvey is specialized in, for yachts of any age or any kind. Still, particularly the most frequent one is the ex-charter vessel, whether it is a monohull or Catamaran up to 70ft in length.
A pre-purchase, condition, and valuation survey complements a phase-out survey and is a must before you take the leap to the final purchase. This is your safeguard and reassurance zone. Keesurvey.com has specialized in ex-charter yachts leaving a charter company.

Why splash the cash before you have all the facts.

Rig Surveying

Always Prepared for sea

Being prepared for a journey, a timely tune-up, or an insurance appraisal or maybe just the end of season lay-up, your rig should not be overlooked or under-estimated as not essential.

The recommendation from most governing survey organizations that when the standing rig has reached 10 years old it should be considered for replacement. Even with normal usage, it is recommended every five years the mast should be un-stepped and fully inspected at ground level.

This may not always be the case if the rig has had a thorough inspection from up the mast and regular reviews. Catch an issue before it becomes an issue and you have solved an expensive problem. Often and not always part of a full survey, a rig survey is a piece of mind, always be prepared for sea.

Insurance Survey

Accidents might happen

We have the experience and skills necessary to tackle just about every type of insurance renewal that comes our way.

For the mega yachts with tenders why not have your towing apparatus checked, the rope appraised rather than renewing, the tender itself reviewed. It can all help to make assurances to your owner and the insurance company before that long tow or inter island-jump. Have a read about this service here.

Seasons end does not always coincide with an insurance renewal. We recommend you have a survey before storage when a vessel is decommissioned, or, before recommissioning. it is not always possible for a full inspection in the yard. Adjust your time scale to fit your sailing needs to have your insurance in hand before you launch.

With a kee insurance survey, clients know exactly what to expect - professionalism, efficiency, and exceptionally detailed results.

Damage Survey

Storm damage survey

A Keeysurvey.com damage report is committed to getting the job done. We here in this part of the Caribbean live in the hurricane belt and have had the experience and the wrath of what a major storm can do.

It is especially important when major damage to your vessel has occurred that procedures are followed. The report will help to document the damage, formulating repair costs, working out schedules, or undertaking repair estimates.
The weather at times can be very unforgiving, and the appropriate measures must follow to catalog the damage quickly but correctly.

It is not always the weather that can cause damage, even the smallest of events can emerge as a claim.
You can count on us to be professional, timely, efficient, and make sure you’re satisfied every step of the way. Click

Meeting Your Needs

You have chosen your boat and .....

The choice has been made, the negotiation has been finalized, all that is left is to get a survey.

To understand more what a pre-purchase survey is click here.

The finished survey report will be tailored and reflective of your vessel and delivered to you in a PDF format for easy reading. There is a standard report writing time within the industry with some preferring the generic produced reports. You will receive my report within three days of the survey being completed, with no cut and paste!

Additional to the report there will be ample photographs with an online facility to access even more information if so desired. The findings and recommendations are made quite clear, with a full 'to do' list or advisories summarised. My aim is to have you in the vessel and on your way safely.

The report will entail covering all of the vessel's general surface and operating areas. The sections are divided into topsides including the mast, below decks, and the wetted areas.

There might be for the new mariner a confusing amount of new words to learn, but that is OK. Nautical terms are as old as boats on the water, but you can still call it a rope until you know its a sheet!

Unfortunately, there will not be any x-ray eyes to see beyond a bulkhead or a panel. You may still require some external experts to help finish the inspection, but that can also be added to your final report. Still, all attempts to do everything humanly possible to produce a report reflective of the current status.
My clients report that I may be a little to detailed on occasions, but assurances made it does not have a full list of nuts, screws, washers, and bolts.

Tying up loose ends

Upon receipt of your report, having completed your seal trial on a pre-purchase survey, it may be time to re-enter negotiations based on the content of the report. With all boats or craft of the sea, they will come with some historic issues, some new issues, and potential future issues.

At this junction of purchase, this is the time to tie up loose ends that can make or possibly break a purchase. The survey may have revealed something that is not of your liking, consult your surveyor about the details, or seek outside consulatation, only armed with the right information consult your broker.

The principle that knowledge is power applies to all avenues in life but a seller has two choices just like the buyer; agree, or disagree, but the facts of the survey will remain unchanged.

Testimonial

"After a few phone calls, my choice for a pre-purchasing survey has been to give this important contract to Ross. Flying from Canada to meet Ross in the BVI, I was more than happy to have picked KeeYatch as our company to do our pre-purchasing survey. Ross was paying much attention to details, our needs, our concerns, to every aspect of the vessel. His extensive knowledge and awareness were undoubtedly a game-changer in our transaction. Even when we were back in Canada, he continued helping us with this purchase procedure, going back and forth to our vessel to give us specific information on our sailboat. Without hesitation, I would recommend Ross for any survey; I would, in fact, make sure to bring him to any country where I would purchase a vessel, to make sure that I have him as our guide in this type of critical transaction."  Mr.K. of QUEBEC - CANADA
